Lucas Moura to complete Manchester United move?
According to the Daily Mail, Lucas Moura is apparently on the verge of completing a move to Manchester United. They also provide information that Sir Alex Ferguson has stayed back in England, without travelling to Norway for United’s friendly, precisely to complete the transfer of Lucas Moura. It also adds that Lucas has also travelled from Newcastle to Manchester to complete the deal.
The Daily Mail isn’t the most reliable source for transfer news, but the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson stayed back in England got me thinking. Of course, it could be for several other reasons, but as a United fan, you would hope that he stayed back for this very purpose. The paper reveals that the deal is worth a whooping 30 million pounds, a figure that is quite high for an unproven 20 year old. Of this 30 million, Lucas would receive 30% of the transfer fee. Whether this is true or not, I doubt whether Sao Paulo would agree to 20 million pounds for themselves.
However, ESPN later confirmed that Manchester United are actually pushing through to complete a deal for Lucas Moura. It isn’t official and I believe that both these reports are partly true. Lucas Moura won’t be moving in the near future, although it is likely to happen in the next week or two. I doubt if Sao Paulo will be willing to sell their most prized asset unless Lucas himself states that he wants to move.
